Are your pets prepared for the fireworks?

Posted 29th October 2018

On the run up to Bonfire night, there are various supplements and products that our frightened pets can benefit from.

Adaptil and Feliway release calming pheromones via a spray, plug-in diffuser or a collar (dogs only) which mimick comforting messages sent from mothers to puppies and kittens. The pheromones are odourless and provide a strong signal of comfort and security to the dog or cat. We advise to begin using Adaptil or FELIWAY a few weeks before the fireworks start, however, both can be used all year round if needed.

Calmex is a calming supplement containing B-vitamins, plant extracts and amino acids, available in a liquid for cats and capsules for dogs. It is used to reduce fear and anxiety in dogs and cats experiencing behavioural problems as a result of the environment. Calmex can be given to dogs 30-60 minutes before the fireworks start, and to cats twice daily on their food.

Adaptil, Feliway and Calmex can all be purchased without seeing a Vet. If you would like to know more, please ask one of our staff members.
