At Ark Vets, we are very conscious that your pets are part of your family, and our priority is to ensure they have access to the very best care no matter what time of day or night it is.
Please see below for our processes in relation to out-of-hours care.
If your pet is admitted during our opening hours, overnight inpatient care is the responsibility of the on-call Veterinary Surgeon and Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN).
Routine out-of-hours inpatient checks are carried out between 10pm and midnight every day, with additional checks on a Saturday and Sunday. When extra work or monitoring is required, the Veterinary Surgeon will liaise with the on-call RVN to arrange this and divide duties appropriately.
If your pet falls ill when we are no longer covering our own out-of-hours service (between 10pm and 8:30am), you should call the practice as normal on 01246 415270 / 0114 247 0828 and you will be transferred directly to the Vets Now team - who will be happy to talk through your concerns.
Don’t forget, their team don’t work during the day, so you don’t have to worry about disturbing them at night. So if you’re worried about your pet don’t hesitate to give them a call, and they’ll advise what you should do next. We would remind you that Vets Now is a pet emergency service. For routine cases such as vaccinations and topical treatments, please call us as you would normally during our daytime opening hours.
